Episode 56 – The Cat Urine Years
Dan and Jay return, this week, to the land of VHS. Since tape 2 is a cluttered mess, they’ve skipped to VHS tape number 3, in which Jay auditions for a Synthetic Cheese commercial along with other unnamed friends, and Gribnish, a new addition to the DJCH family. Also, Dan tells another childhood story, so that already puts this episode in Top 5 status.

Episode 55 – The Golden Hour
Dan and Jay talk about the one completed actual sketch that would have ended up on their planned 2002 album, “Jenny is a Slute.” The sketch is called “Tea,” and is about a husband and wife, both played by Jay. They also talk about the presents Dan got Jay for his birthday, and a podcast by a former sitcom star. Continue reading “Episode 55 – The Golden Hour” →

Episode 54 – The Unspoken Leprechaun
This week, Dan and Jay talk about the second of their trips to Cooperstown and Milford, New York. For five years, they recorded their mini-trips in various formats, and in 1999, they took some pictures to accompany their crappy dictaphone. We’ve uploaded the first two as videos to our YouTube channel, and you can find the subject of this week’s podcast below.

Episode 53 – Dan’s Berfday
This episode was recorded on Dan’s actual birthday so that Jay and Ari could tell Dan what his big birthday present is. Jay also decides to blow the lid on a present he refuses to let Dan open. The video we discuss is Dan’s 20th birthday cartoon, part of an entire tape Jay made for Dan to celebrate his birthday at his surprise party, that year. Also, yes, the homophobia is ironic, especially given the nicknames Dan and Jay would frequently be pelted with at school.

Episode 52 – Geddy Claus
This week, Dan and Jay talk about being possibly the only two humans to ever actually take advantage of the “mosaic” setting on their VHS camera for any creative means, as well as rock operas and Geddy Lee’s place as Canada’s Santa Claus.

Episode 50 – Alien Paddingtons
This week, Dan and Jay celebrate episode 50 with special guest Taylor Jessen! We stick to our digital-only stuff this time around, discussing the opener for our proposed sketch show “Dan and Jay’s Community Service,” which will also serve as the origin story for the podcast’s theme. Video below.

Episode 49 – Micro-Brew-Penis
Dan and Jay discuss an early “fake history” sketch, improvised in Jay’s barn attic in 2001. Dan plays what would become his fictional grandfather, Dan “Bloody Stump(s)” Gomiller. Jay also discusses his other-worldly experience with hard root beer, one he doesn’t intend to duplicate, considering the fever dreams that resulted.

Episode 38 – The Bubblegum Law

Before they get back into the VHS chronology with the first video ad for Synthetic Cheese (see below), Dan and Jay have to make the most difficult decision of their entire careers: to move their headquarters. As you probably know, DJCH, Inc is located in the Austin, TX Quarter of Indianapolis, IN. With new, upsetting anti-gay legislation, our very real, actual physical headquarters need to be moved – but to where? That’s where you come in.
Call us at 208-557-3524 (DJCH) or e-mail us: dan AT danandjay DOT com or jay AT danandjay DOT com and pitch to us why your city should be the official headquarters of Dan and Jay’s Comedy Hour, Inc. It can’t be LA or B(Boise), because if it’s near either of us, we have no motivation to try and make Dan and Jay’s Comedy Hour the greatest non-live-performance sketch duo in history. Anywhere else, though (except in Indiana) is open. It’s a tough choice, but it needs to be made.
