In an unusual breach of comedy protocol, Testle Gomiller came out of retirement (with the blessing of the new Dan & Jay) to finish an incomplete Dan and Jay track from 1970, entitled “Pass the Bananas.” He did so by recording over the audio he believed to be intended for him, Jay’s audio for that part being an apparent “test track.” Testle would shortly thereafter discover that his Jay, Bronk Klamm, had merely been ignoring his phone calls. While a reconciliation was initiated from this misunderstanding, when Jay discovered that his master tapes had been ruined, the pair didn’t speak again for another decade.
